Paris Therapy

I finally finished my Bubbles sweater today and decided that a short-sleeved wool sweater is a bad idea.
It’s warm and yet at the same time it isn’t.
It’s also a little too “bubbly” for me. I’m thinking of pulling off all the silly little bubbles since that way I’ll be more likely to wear it out in public. Here’s the photo for you to judge for yourselves:

Yikes! Looks like I'm wearing shoulder pads!

I think for my next project I’ll follow a pattern so I can see exactly what my finished piece will look like.
No more bad surprises this way.

I didn’t write yesterday because I spent the day in Paris. I’ve been trying to go every few weeks since I get city withdrawal living here in Dijon. If it were cheaper I’d do it more often but, hey, it’s still cheaper than the therapy I’d most certainly need if I didn’t do it. Now if only I could find something for the Atlantic Ocean withdrawal.

So since I found some 50% off tickets on the SNCF webpage I decided to go in this week for two reasons.

The first was to meet Kate Gilbert of Anouk fame and the writer of the Needles on Fire blog. Kate was nice enough to meet with me and show me where La Droguerie was since last time I was in Paris I couldn’t find it. Probably because I was looking for rue du Paris (which doesn’t exist in Paris!) when I should have been looking for rue du Jour.

My second reason for going was because of the big sales going on right now (Les Soldes!). France doesn’t have sales as we know them in the States. Here they only come twice a year and as a result people go on wild shopping sprees in search of a rare bargain. I passed by many packed stores but the best was the Tod’s shoe store (which had a long line of people out front all waiting to get in). You’d think they were giving the stuff away.

Of course, since there was so much choice, I had trouble deciding what to buy in the little time I had and so I came back empty handed (yes, I’m an indecisive Libra too) .

Hmmm. Guess I’ll just have to go back again in a few weeks before they’re officially over for this season and see what’s left!

I had no idea there are big sales right now in Paris! My hubby just came back from Paris yesterday. All he brought me was yarn! OK, it was really sweet of him to venture into Bon Marche and look for yarn when he doesn’t speak a word of French!
